If your Bitcoin (BTC) transaction is taking longer than expected to confirm, don’t worry—you can now speed it up directly in your Blockchain.com DeFi Wallet using the Replace-By-Fee (RBF) feature.
What is RBF?
Replace-By-Fee (RBF) is a Bitcoin feature that allows you to resend an unconfirmed transaction with a higher network fee. The new transaction replaces the original one, helping it get confirmed faster during periods of network congestion.
When Should I Use RBF?
Use RBF if:
- Your BTC transaction has been pending for a while
- You sent the transaction with a low fee
- You want to avoid waiting
Requirements
- The original transaction must have been sent from your DeFi Wallet(RBF is enabled by default)
- You need enough remaining balance to pay a higher fee
How to Speed Up a BTC Transaction (Step-by-Step)
1. Open your DeFi Wallet
2. Go to the Activity tab
3. Tap on the pending BTC transaction
4. Tap “Speed Up”
5. Select a new fee level (Higher fees increase the chances of faster confirmation)
6. Confirm and broadcast the replacement transaction
That’s it! You’ll see the new transaction in your activity list. It will replace the original one on the Bitcoin network.
Important Notes
- You can only use RBF before the original transaction is confirmed
- If you sent your full BTC balance in the original transaction, RBF may not be available (no funds left to pay a higher fee)
- The new transaction will have a different transaction ID (TXID)
