A Limit Order lets you set the exact price you want to buy or sell your crypto for.
- Buy Limit Order: You’ll only buy if the market drops to your chosen price (or lower).
- Sell Limit Order: You’ll only sell if the market rises to your chosen price (or higher).
This gives you more control than a Market Order, which buys or sells right away at the best available price.
Examples:
Buy Limit Order: You set a maximum price you're willing to pay. Your order will only be executed if the market price drops to your target price or lower.
- Example: Bitcoin is currently trading at $70,000, but you believe it will dip. You can set a buy limit order for 1 BTC at $65,000. If and when the price of BTC hits $65,000, your wallet will automatically execute the purchase for you.
Sell Limit Order: You set a minimum price you're willing to accept. Your order will only be executed if the market price rises to your target price or higher.
- Example: You hold Ethereum, which is currently at $3,500. You want to take profits when it reaches $4,000. You set a sell limit order for your ETH at $4,000. Your wallet will automatically sell your position once the market hits that price.
