At Blockchain.com, we offer two powerful options for managing your cryptocurrency: the Wallet (DeFi Wallet) and the Trading Account. While both serve important functions, they are designed for different types of users and offer distinct benefits.
DeFi Wallet: Full Control, Full Responsibility
The Wallet (DeFi Wallet) is non-custodial, meaning you alone control your funds—Blockchain.com does not have access to them.
Key Features:
✔ Full ownership – You hold your private keys and 12-word Recovery Phrase.
✔ Increased privacy – Your wallet is not linked to an identity profile.
✔ Supports multiple blockchains – Currently compatible with the Polygon, BNB, Optimism, Solana Tron, and other networks for lower fees and faster transactions, with more networks coming soon.
✔ Integrated with Blockchain.com DEX – Swap thousands of tokens on the Ethereum and Polygon blockchains directly from your Wallet—without ever giving up control of your crypto.
✔ Crypto-only storage – The Wallet does not support fiat transactions (no bank deposits, card purchases, or withdrawals).
🚨 Important Notes:
- We cannot access, reset, or recover your Wallet. If you lose your password and 12-word Recovery Phrase, your funds cannot be recovered.
- Transactions on the blockchain cannot be reversed. Always double-check your transfers before sending crypto.
Trading Account: Managed Funds, Simplified Access
The Trading Account is a custodial wallet, meaning Blockchain.com secures and manages your funds for you.
Key Features:
✔ Easier recovery – If you forget your password or lose access, you can reset it without needing a Recovery Phrase.
✔ Supports a broader range of cryptocurrencies, including TRX (Tron), SOL (Solana), and other major assets.
✔ Seamless crypto management – Buy, sell, and store crypto, swap between assets, and earn rewards—all in one place.
✔ Fiat transactions – Deposit and withdraw from bank accounts, debit/credit cards, Google Pay, and Apple Pay.
✔ Faster swaps – Since swaps happen within your Trading Account, they are not affected by network congestion or blockchain transaction fees.
✔ Crypto addresses – Most of the crypto has its own individual hot wallet, hence double check the address before sending your crypto first. For example, ETH and other ERC-20 tokens will have separate addresses that must be treated individually. Failing to send your crypto to a wrong address may end up as a lost funds.

Which One Should You Use?
🔹 Use the Wallet (DeFi Wallet) if you want full control, enhanced privacy, and decentralized trading, but understand that you alone are responsible for securing your private keys.
🔹 Use the Trading Account if you prefer a streamlined way to manage your crypto , built-in recovery options, and and the ability to buy/sell crypto with fiat.

Many users choose to use both—managing long-term holdings in their Wallet (DeFi Wallet) while using their Trading Account for everyday transactions and trading.
