Understanding Your Trading Wallet – Why It Matters
Losing access to your wallet can be stressful. However, your recovery options depend on the type of wallet you're trying regain access to —a Trading Account (custodial) or a Wallet (non-custodial).
1. Wallet (Non-Custodial) – You Are in Full Control
- This is a self-managed wallet—Blockchain.com cannot access or recover it.
- You must have your 12-word Recovery Phrase to restore access. If you have it - please go to this link and click "Login with Recovery Phrase" button to proceed with entering your phrase.
- Lost both your password and 12-word Recovery Phrase? Unfortunately, your wallet and the funds in that wallet are permanently lost.
2. Trading Account (Custodial) – We Can Help You Recover
If your account is linked with a Google, or Apple email account:
If you have an existing account that you created using Google/Apple Sign up feature, you can select "Login with Google."/ "Login with Apple". The system will recognize your email and log you in securely to your custodial Trading account without the need to enter your password.
If you had more than one registered wallet, the system will suggest you options to which wallet you wish to log in:
Note: To enter your non-custodial Wallet you will still have to provide a password & 2FA, if you had one in the past:
If your account is registered with a different email than Google/Apple;
- This is a secure, identity-verified account where Blockchain.com manages your custodial funds.
- No 12-word Recovery Phrase needed - you can reset your password if you lose access.
🔹 Why is this important? If you reset your password, your custodial account will be recovered, however, your non-custodial Wallet will not be recovered. Instead, a new non-custodial Wallet will be created (alongside with the new Wallet ID) and linked to your custodial account. Hence why, if you don’t have a Recovery Phrase for your original non-custodial Wallet - your funds will be lost.
